Try these simple steps to make your mouth feel fresh and clean.

1. Brush and floss more regularly.

Plaque, which is the sticky buildup on your teeth, collects and holds bacteria which can cause bad breath. Trapped food between your teeth also adds to the problem.

2. Rinse out your mouth.

Besides freshening your breath, a mouthwash adds extra protection by getting rid of bacteria which can lead to bad breath.

3. Avoid foods that make your breath smell.

We know that seems obvious, but the smell from onions and garlic can’t be removed by brushing your teeth. The smell is coming from your stomach and lungs.

4. Scrape your tongue.

The coating that normally forms on your tongue may be holding lots of foul smelling bacteria. Gently brush or scrape your tongue with a toothbrush.

5. Chew gum not mints

The bacteria in your mouth which can create smelly breath love sugar. Mints are full of sugar. Use sugarless gum instead, which will also produce more saliva, which is the mouth’s natural defence against plaque, which causes bad breath.

6. Look after your gums.

Gum disease causes bad breath. Bacteria gather in pockets at the base of teeth, which creates bad and semlly breath.

7. Stop smoking

Besides causing cancer, smoking can damage your gums, stain your teeth, and give you bad breath.
